Discovering Java Tools

To get you better acquainted with our Java tools and how they integrate into Visual Studio Team Services, we have provided two walkthroughs that will help you get a demo project started. These walkthroughs will show you how to create, build, and deploy a Java project along with using Agile tools to keep your development lifecycle on track. Along with that, the walkthrough will demonstrate the features of our IDE plugins and how to install them to make your Visual Studio Team Services experience smoother.

Getting Started

The first walkthrough you will do takes you step-by-step on how to create, build, and deploy a sample Java application. It shows you how to use Git for version control, Maven for builds, and Azure for deployments.

Our second walkthrough gives you a tour of our Agile tools and how you can integrate them into your software lifecycle. You will extend upon the first walkthrough and create a backlog, plan work, make changes, and merge them all with the tools we provide.

Lastly, we give you a tour of our current tools that will help you integrate with Visual Studio Team Services in a seamless manner. We provide both an IntelliJ and Eclipse plugin for you to download. In addition, the Git Credential Manager for Linux, Mac, and Windows simplifies sign-in for Git. More tools are on the way!
